IT Security Breakfast Seminar

Here at Instant On IT, we organise periodic ‘hot topic’ seminars that we feel will be of interest to our clients.  With IT security now a boardroom issue and gracing headlines now more than ever before, we felt the time was right to refresh and update senior management within SMEs with the latest IT security trends and developments, providing advice from ourselves and our industry-leading partners. To this end, we teamed up with Microsoft and PWC, whom we work very closely with to deliver best practice IT security to our clients.

Paul Coote, founding MD of Instant On IT, opened the seminar with an overview on the legal and compliance issues surrounding data and practical considerations for SMEs, especially given developments at a European level. Next up was Microsoft, Mark Deakin, SME Cloud Technology Strategist and whose expertise is Office 365.  Mark gave a highly informative overview of the features of the Office 365 offering, and the ways and means you can ensure your data is secure at all times. Last, but by no means least, was PwC.  Leading Cyber Security for the London region, Naveed gave an eye-opening presentation about how it can be us, as humans, who are the weakest link when it comes to IT security.  His presentation was peppered with useful real life examples of the methods they have come across recently when people and organisations are targeted in order to acquire data.

Feedback tells us that attendees, particularly those outside of our own client base, found the seminar useful in terms of implementing infrastructure and organisational change that will help secure their data. Based on the feedback we received and discussion after the seminar, we plan to be holding further events in the future.
