At Instant on IT, so much of what we do relies on our team culture and as such we are launching a series of blog posts dedicated to our devoted team members! The first person to tell us a bit about herself is Zoe, our Service Desk Team Leader.
Service Desk Team Leader (Hatton Garden, London office)
How long have you been with Instant On IT (IOIT)?
Nearly 2 years
What brought you to IOIT?
Ambition to be an IT engineer + a good interview!
What was your first impression of the company?
Inclusive, fun, down-to-earth, hard-working.
Describe a typical working day for you:
Get to the office around 8:45am and head straight for the coffee machine. Whilst logging in I’ll get a feel how the day has started from my colleagues on the early support shift. Then, it’s straight on the phones! Logging tickets, ensuring our service response team is OK and most importantly ensuring tickets for our clients are addressed with the best service.
Around 1pm I head to Leather Lane food market for lunch, every type of food you can possibly imagine is on Leather Lane so the lunchtime choice is exciting.
In the afternoon we sometimes have a change of team so it’s important to keep track of who is where. Then, it’s back on the phones! Emailing, remoting onto client PCs, organising the flow of PCs at our build station and making sure the team are happy and our clients are happy. The day goes very quickly as our work is so fast-paced.
At 6pm there are a cohort of pub-goers and I semi-frequently join to indulge in a glass of Pinot.
What is your favourite thing about the work you do?
There are so many good and exciting aspects of working with our fab support team. We spend our day problem solving, fixing issues and helping people. I suppose my favourite thing about the work I do is communicating with our clients, who are all lovely, and experiencing the ‘eureka!’ moment when the issue is resolved.
On a typical day, what do you have for lunch?
Something from Leather lane… usually falafels!
What are you most famous for at Instant On IT?
What makes a dream client?
Understanding, easy to get on with and has an appreciation for the work we carry out within IT support services (which is entirely mutual!)
What’s your favourite business/life quote?
“People take different roads seeking fulfilment and happiness. Just because they’re not on your road does not mean they are lost” – Dalai Lama
What area of IT interests you most?
What has been your best memory during your time at Instant On IT so far (at work or at one of our social events)?
Instafest – our weekend country retreat and festival with IOIT plus our partners and families. We stayed in a luxury teepee tent in the beautiful gardens of a country house; we had an entire weekend of games, music and food!
Who really makes the best cup of tea in the office?
It’s between Tom and Amrit, but I honestly cannot choose.
